Every day at 11pm UTC (give or take a couple hours), two Pokémon will go head-to-head in a battle for your votes! Here's how it works:
- Two Pokémon will be presented.
- You vote by simply commenting the name (and a reason why, if you want to!) of one of the current competing Pokémon you want to see win the round.
- At 11pm UTC the next day, the Pokémon with the fewer votes will be replaced by a new completely random challenger.
- This continues daily until ALL Pokémon have had their chance to compete.
- Pokémon will only appear once but will appear again in other forms if they have them such as Alolan, Mega, Gigantimax, etc. After they make their debut, they will not appear again unless they win the round!
- Pokémon appearance order has been decided by a random list generator.
- If 11pm UTC is reached and the competing Pokémon are tied, the two compete in a 50/50 wheel spin. Winner will advance to the next round. (Getting rid of the battle simulator as some got annoyed at the results)
Special Mechanics:
Consecutive votes boost your odds of landing on the following special segments (See and hover over images of wheels above for comparison):
+5% Next Vote Bonus:
There’s a segment on the wheel that grants a +5% boost to your shiny chance but only for the next vote. This bonus adds to your current chance. For example, if your chance is at 0.7% and you land on this bonus, your next vote will have a 5.7% shiny chance. If the shiny roll fails, your vote will still count, and your base chance will increase to 0.8% for the following vote.
Reroll:
The wheel also contains two Reroll segments. These are super handy as not only does it allow you to spin the wheel again for another chance at a shiny, but it also acts like another vote in terms of your vote streak/shiny chance. For example: If you're currently at a vote streak of 1 and you land on reroll, your Vote streak becomes 2 and the wheel is spun again with the new odds! So someone with 0.5% shiny chance on their first roll, spins again at 0.6% shiny chance. Their next spin on the next round will be 0.7%, essentially skipping a day of voting!
Shiny:
If a player lands on a shiny Pokémon, their shiny chance resets to 0.5% for the next vote. From there, they’ll need to build their chance back up through more voting.
Maxed Out Chance:
The maximum shiny chance is 6%. This happens if a player reaches 1% through consecutive voting and then lands on the +5% Next Vote bonus. If the bonus is awarded after hitting 6%, it won’t increase the chance beyond this cap, but the chance will remain 6% for the next round.Rules:
- You cannot vote more than once per round. (Don't use alt accounts, there's no fun in that!)
- You cannot change your vote unless you've realised I've somehow managed to misinterpret your vote
- You can have any reason for your vote. For example: Mew vs Totodile
- Mew would easily beat Totodile in a battle! I'm picking Mew!
- Totodile is cute and he's blue which is my favourite colour! I'm going to vote Totodile every single round!
- Totodile has been winning too much. I'm gonna help break the win streak. Muahahah!
Throughout the Face-Off, we’ll keep track of:
- Most voted Pokémon per generation
- Generation that received the most votes + wins
- Pokemon with the most votes overall
- Champion's winning streaks/Most rounds won
- Biggest vote gap round
- Shinies
- The ultimate winner of this showdown!
I've created a Google spreadsheet that I simply enter the pokemon name and vote into and it magically does all the rest for me, so stats should be accurate as it's just a matter of copy/pasting!
Make sure to come back every day and cast your vote!

Don't check the forums much? Just ping me on the Discord server (@py.an) to know who's facing off in the current round and cast your vote there. I'll reply to the thread with a link to your vote.
