Just wanted to make a list for gathering resources and thought I share it.
First things first, the amount of bars the tool heads need stays the same between tiers:
Hoe Head - 5
Axe Head - 8
Shovel Head - 10
Pickaxe Head - 12
Trowel Head - 5
And since the only tools worth making right know are the pickaxe and axe, I'll focus on them.
Next, let's discuss the handle. For Bronze and Iron, you can use every type of wood handle. Since the Demo doesn't drain durability (which I guess will effect it in the release), Oak handles are recommended. For Steel though, the cost of making the tools will skyrocket since Birch handles are required.
That out of the way, here's the crafting tree:
Oak Tool Handle
Birch Tool Handle (Edit: You can ignore this part)
If you want to make Bronze Tools from scratch instead of buying them at a shop, you'll need an additional:
Or, simply
120 Tin Ore + 120 Copper Ore + 240 Sand + 220 Iron Ore + 40 Coal per Steel Axe Head, and
130 Tin Ore + 130 Copper Ore + 360 Sand + 330 Iron Ore + 60 Coal per Steel Pickaxe Head
Regarding the necessary Skill Levels you'll need for every step, I simply can't remember when I unlocked most of them.
You'll need at least Foraging Lv 28 for Birch trees,
Smithing Lv 30 for Steel Bars
and Crafting Lv 30 for Rafts. Jokes aside, I can't remember this one. Sorry :/
And with all that said, I'll head back into Dark Cave.
Edit: Maybe i was lacking sleep, maybe I was to long in the mines, but I just discovered that Steel Tools...aren't restricted to Birch Handles. Welp.
If I made any other mistakes, please let me know!
