Hello, PokéForce community!

Welcome to our quarter 2 State of the Game, where we’ll be going over a few exciting things! We’d like to showcase the progress on our transition to Godot, a few sneak peeks of our map, music, and more. We know you have a lot of burning questions, so let’s address those first.

Are you guys still making PokéForce?

Yes! We can confirm that we are still making PokéForce. Development has not stopped since the last announcement back in mid-February. We know you have all been very patient thus far and we’d like to start off by saying that overall, progress is good. Quality is our current goal and that’s something that is only becoming more important as the project ages.

What has happened so far this year?

PokéForce Technical Update

In our last announcement, we showed off some simple mechanics such as movement and our chatbox. Since then, @Rebecca has continued to lead the charge on the Godot client and has implemented more features, such as networking and multiplayer. These are important elements in order to interface the client with the server, and it has fed into our ability to carry on with our content development.

Some of the benefits of Godot have already been realized, including our UI development. A massive benefit that we have taken advantage of so far has been out-of-the-box controller support, which has allowed us to keep it in mind when developing our UX. A great example of this is our inventory system overhaul, where instead of your bag being a static bar, it is now able to be interacted with either your mouse wheel or trigger buttons on your controller.

Overall, UI development in Godot has been much more enjoyable, and more effective than our LibGDX counterpart. We're excited to keep moving forward with Godot in this regard!

Noteworthy PokéForce Team Updates

We're happy to announce the following changes and additions:

  • @Bee rejoins the PokéForce Development Team, returning to his position as a programmer!
    • Bee has taken up the mantle by working with @Triston on our battle engine, assisting with our Godot transition, and providing his expertise to our team.
  • @Vizaryll was promoted to Project Coordinator!
    • The Project Coordinator role was created to ensure inter-team communication, effective distribution of tasks, and the management of deadlines to promote personal accountability.
  • @Lin joined the Design Team as our in-house PvP Coordinator.
    • The PvP Coordinator role was established to bridge the gap between the PvP Community and the Development Team.

Unfortunately, we have had to say goodbye to:
  • @Kesshoketsu (Manager) - Personal scheduling reasons.

  • @Eva (Sprite Artist) - Personal scheduling reasons.

Additional PokéForce Content

What can we look forward to next?

Next Demo Update

We as a team can safely say that things are underway, we’ve got quite a few staff members interested in learning different aspects of the engine so that they can further assist with development of content within the game. Below you can see some of the various things we’ve got created for the next demo:

Can you see anything familiar?

Additionally, we’ve also got plans for a subsystem of content called the Job Board. This includes shorter length tasks/goals that you can do over the course of your game play. @Vizaryll and @Kildaru have written somewhere in the ballpark of 100-150 different tasks to fill up this board.

We can’t give a confirmed date for a demo, we know you are excited… and we are too, summer will be an exciting time.

Closing Remarks

We want to thank you all for being patient with us, as stated above. We know it’s been a while. Ideally, we’re looking to push out one of these types of announcements at least every two months, but it all depends on what we’ve got going on and if we have something to say at the time.

Regarding the recent actions made by a certain company that we’re all aware of, we aren’t going anywhere. We’re monitoring the situation with said company closely, and we don’t feel like there is anything to worry about at this stage. Just so everyone is clear: PokéForce is not going anywhere; it will be released, and it will be epic!

Until next time,
Team PokéForce

Also, shoutout to Jen and Tater, I am really enjoying the music they are putting out zamnnnn cozy vibes!

Nice news.
Q: Will the game be translated into other languages except English?
Hello!
Yes, we plan to have the game available in multiple languages.
We cannot guarantee that more languages than English will be available on release, as that is the main language the game is being built for, but there is absolutely an ambition to have the game be available to play in multiple languages.

Love the music and sprites! Is that a da mines reference??

"Can you see anything familiar" what does it mean??? Help me eagle eye pokeforce peeps.

Ayy jobs! Why would i wanna do my actual job when i can fo between 100 and 150 tasks written by some cool pokeforce devs? Im ready to collect 10 pieces of tin for bobby mctinderston so he can build his rocket to the moon.

Idk anything about a "certain company". Prob fine but it sounds ominous.

This is awesome! i'm really hyped for the demo and the completed mmo. i wanna thank all the staff members who are working hard to make PokeForce an enjoyable and amazing pokemon mmo for us.

May the dark force be with you on your journey in creating PokeForce

Those music tracks are honestly immaculate

Loving the music shown sofar, hoping for a system where we can listen to them anywhere in the game if possible, like a jukebox, as it would be a shame to lock such work behind sections of the map.
